IN-PERSON TESTING

The TOVA Test is an in-person test. The official TOVA test is administered using specialized TOVA software, dedicated hardware, a calibrated display, and a precision microswitch. It is not an ordinary web-based attention test that can be completed through a browser at home.

COMPREHENSIVE ADHD EVALUATION

Do you only need an objective analysis of attention-deficit and impulsivity or do you need a comprehensive evaluation for diagnosing ADHD? The TOVA test provides the former. There are mental health providers or facilities that offer comprehensive ADHD evaluation packages that include questionnaires, rating scales, intellectual screenings, and measures of sustained attention and distractibility (one of which is the TOVA Test). They may also include extended clinical interviews with a testing psychologist, a synthesis of information from parents and teachers, and standardized cognitive, academic, psychological, and neuropsychological measures. Prices and quality will vary, so shop around. The TOVA test costs about $300 while a comprehensive ADHD evaluation can cost from $3000 to $5000.

TOVA TEST ONLY

There are mental health providers or facilities that offer the TOVA Test a la carte. When comparing standalone TOVA testing providers, consider more than price and location. Ask about the testing environment, proper administration and observation, which test format is appropriate, what reports and supporting materials you will receive, and whether the provider can send the results to your clinician with your authorization.
